I wasn't a regulr viewer of that show when it aired in the States, but surely Audrey was a much kinder, more intelligent woman that Lady C. Can you imagine Lady C falling in love with and marrying an immigrant grocer, however wealthy? I sure can't.

Audrey, ultimately, was able to see past her prejudices, or at least her preconceptions, and see what a worthy and worthwhile person Richard really was. Lady C would still be grinding her teeth at "the shades of Rosings" being thus "polluted."
