surely Audrey was a much kinder, more intelligent woman that Lady C. Can you imagine Lady C falling in love with and marrying an immigrant grocer, however wealthy? I sure can't.

By the end of the four seasons she was much nicer, but at the beginning of the first season I remember Audrey being shockingly opinionated and inconsiderate of others, which is what made me think of Lady Catherine. She came to realise, over time, that she was no longer Lady of the Manor, and Richard DeVere had a lot to do with her change in behaviour, because he was so tolerant of her pride and her prejudice. She was a relatively young widow though, so more likely to be flexible.

I think Penelope Keith played quite a mild Lady Catherine by comparison to some film or TV versions. She was more like a gossipy old woman and I wasn't quite sure why she was in the story at all. That scene could have disappeared and I don't think it would have affected the flow of the plot, but it seemed that the author (or the scriptwriter?) wanted to include Lady Catherine, so she did. However, it was the only time that I saw that lively spark that Lizzy is supposed to have so from that perspective I'm glad they included it.

For anyone who doesn't mind a spoiler, the BBC have put almost all of the Lady Catherine scene up on YouTube as an advert for the third episode: http://youtu.be/LkDtJ0wsyPE
