I liked him very much in two series in which he played Scotland Yarders.

One was The Heat of the Sun, in which he played a Met detective forcibly transferred to a colonial police force in Africa during the '30's, where he gets romatically involved with a beautiful avaitrix named Emma Fitzgerald (played by Susannah Harker, giving him another Austen connection), who's modeled, to some degree, on Beryl Markham.

Later, he played the head of Scotland Yard's Cold Case detail in a show called Waking the Dead, another good show.

One that hasn't made it over here is Kidnap & Ransom, in which he plays a private-eye/security-consultant who specializes in kidnapping cases.

Like P.D. James very much, but was very disappointed in Death Come to Permberly, and the pictures I've seen of the actress playing Lizzy don't fit my picture of the character at all. As others have pointed out, she looks to old, and not pretty enough.

Still, if the show gets enough good reviews, I may give it a look when it makes it to this side of the Pond.
