Which version of Persuasion and Northanger Abbey did you see? Was it the '95 version of Persuasion with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds, and the '87 version of Northanger Abbey with Katherin Schlesinger and Peter Firth, or was it the 2007 versions from ITV, Persuasion with Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones, and NA with Felicity Jones and J.J. Feild?
If the latter, I have no opinion on whether editing would helped NA (which I rather liked), but no amount of editing would have helped Persuasion, which was a real train wreck.
