Yeah, it's not a fair comparison to talk about Star Trek or any other active series under copyright. Those Star Trek novels are licensed and, if I'm not mistaken, commissioned by Paramount. The Austen market is going to be more subject to ups and downs, since there's no new content from the author to keep interest up the way a new Star Trek movie or show does.
