I can´t judge what sells in general. However, I very much enjoyed stories that focus on Darcy´s views and thoughts although I must confess that I am not at all interested in Bingley´s, for instance. I suppose the reason is the "Darcy Appeal", the little bit extra that makes Darcy the hero compared to other characters from other novels.
Whatever the agent means to say with the third paragraph, it might be that your story doesn´t fit with what her company publishes or she just wants to soften her negative answer. I recommend to ask other professionals whether they might publish your story. Much success!!!
