As you mention the Colonel. What about him as a military man around 30, would he know inimate contact? I know it is again fanfiction, but there he does get decribed often as someone, who loves to drink and have fun. From the glimpse of character in the book, he is not as privat as Darcy nor as fastidious, but his behaviour is that of a true gentleman.
Or how about Bingley? He is socially much more open, the Colonel says, when saying Darcy saved a friends of an imprudent marriage, that it might be Bingley, because he is that sort of man, he could imagine getting into something like that. That´s also in the book isn´t it? (I do mix up the book, movies and fanfiction, sorry.) In FF Bingley often portrays the innocent part, when placing Darcy, (Col. Fitzwilliam) and him together, probably because he is with his 22/23 years younger than the other gentlemen. But you think, would that be so?
