Your points speak to whether Darcy would choose it for himself or engage in such activities on his own. I think it's likely that he was "indoctrinated" at an impressionable age by some older cousin or his father or Uncle. I don't think he's a rake, keeps a mistress or has an open tab at a brothel, but I don't think he's a virgin on his wedding night.
