Names in JA novels

When I read a book, especially one that is already quite old, like the ones of Jane Austen, I always have to imagine the author sitting there and thinking about the sentences 200 years ago that I am reading in the present.
And so I wonder why Jane Austen picked the names she picked. Some explain themselves well, like "Knightley"... being the character he is.
Wickham from wicked. But why for example is Captain Benwick in Perusuation called Benwick. Does it also come from wicked? He is not a mean character, but he does forget his bigges love pretty fast. Maybe that´s why? While again Ben may come from Benedict.
Then we have Darcy... meaning the dark one. Well maybe she thought him dark haired and with brown eyes? Or maybe because his character is more the serious one and he is not so positive in the way he talks?
Bennet... comes from Benedict... and means "blessing"... maybe because Elisabeth is sort of a blessing to Darcy, because she helps him develope... but he does the same also for her.
Bingley... hmm.. has that word a meaning? It does sound happy and laughing...and a bit "jumping"...
Wentworth... went from he went away? And worth he has worth/ value....
Woodhouse.... maybe because she has not traveled? The name does sound somehow a bit caged in, but to the same time like a cosy home.
Well guess some names maybe just names that where often used in that time. But I do wonder why she picked certain names for certain people. Why did she choose Collins for Collins, why not calling Darcy Collins, its not a bad name. What other names are there, where one could explain how they maybe came into existence?
I am not the only one thinking these kind of thoughts when reading a book, or am I?
