I'm reluctant to give a sneak peek because... seriously, you don't realize how long it's going to be until I'm ready to post. I don't write in chronological order, and I prefer to have at least a rough draft before posting anyway, so yeah. But on the other hand, maybe if I promise you all to post, it would motivate me to write?
Anyway. It's interesting you make comparisons to the characters in Emma, because my guiding idea for writing Henry's reformation in Everingham was the line Mr. Knightley says of Emma herself, that it would do her good to be in love and in some doubt of a return. I also like your use of the line about characters so superior to their own. Good one.
I completely agree about Edmund - I've never understood the hatred he provokes. He's a genuine, idealistic, caring, honorable man and the worst thing he ever does is fall in love with an unsuitable person - who hasn't done that?
I won't say a whole lot more about my Edmund/Mary theories, because I want to save it for my story. But thanks for bringing up the topic, it's inspiring me.
Great story idea, if it's not one, about the inheritance!
