I doubt that Darcy would be in the inner circle of the Prince Regent! Many in the Prince's inner circle were of questionable morality. JA herself disliked the Prince, although he was such an admirer of her writings that he kept a set of her novels in each of his residences and she was obliged to dedicate Emma to him.
The Rushworths were also an ancient though untitled family, and during the visit to Sotherton, Fanny "attended with unaffected earnestness to all that Mrs. Rushworth could relate of the family in former times, its rise and grandeur, regal visits and loyal efforts, delighted to connect anything with history already known, or warm her imagination with scenes of the past."(chap 9, MP)
