I have been following this story since the beginning and found a faithful modern adaptation of Emma by JA till the breakup. However, your story deviates after that by making Jane make mistakes that the one in JA never did. It started getting confusing for me then and Jane's reaction to her grandmother's illness in this chapter had me more confused. I have not seen anyone reacting in this way in an emergency situation. Maybe, after meeting with her grandmother and understanding the risks better, this would have been an acceptable reaction. Maybe others do not find it that odd.
However, I truly want grandma to be hail and healthy to see Jane happily married with a kid and with her work.
One more thing - why have Jane, Maddy and Bates not exolored kidney transplantation for Mrs. Bates?
