Wow.
Thank you SO much for your thoughtful and kind words. I really appreciate it. It really is so rewarding to hear that my story could have had such an impact on someone.
I appreciate your thoughts on the E&D angle and a natural conclusion to the story. I do agree with a number of your points. I think a romance (if any) is secondary to the other themes in this story. The reason I haven't ended the story yet is I find that there are some unresolved issues to address. For ex: one of the themes I'm interested in is how an independent publication can survive in this environment... can there be a way to make it work with the likes of a Pemberley without compromising everything?
I'm more interested in how E&D can continue to grow as people - and how they can complement each other. A romance would have to be a natural outgrowth, but only if they manage to have compatible visions of the future.
The Elizabeth/Dylan backstory was meant to explore whether two people in this kind of life can have a life together. That was truncated - but you could (hopefully) see seeds of doubt in E regardless. I once mentioned a play I saw with Laura Linney - similar themes were explored in that as well. So, hopefully, you'll find the personal story as additive to the professional story and not a distraction.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and thoughts. Really appreciate it.
