Well, the title of that story was in large part based on the fact that so many ff stories have Darcy telling Bingley that he fears a marriage of unequal affection, and I didn't think that was necessarily true at all. But perhaps it was the combination of Jane's indifference and her family, connections, etc. It was because there was no other reason for Bingley to wish to marry Jane other than love. Or that Bingley admitted there those other detractions were considerable, but he wasn't willing to jilt a girl after making her love him--but if she didn't love him, that was different.
