My point is that those who think Jane was too quick to welcome Bingley back are looking at them through modern 20th or 21ist century eyes, instead of from a Regency or 19th century viewpoint. When you are a Regency gentlewoman with little money and no other career choice than marriage, to have the man you loved or were strongly attracted to, and who could very well afford to ensure financial security, offer you marriage -- that would be bliss and happiness, and you would not bother to inquire too closely into his character and possible faults or weaknesses.
