I don't want to see morally repugnant behavior (as in infidelity, racism, sexism, etc) in heroes or heroines that we are supposed to admire, regardless if it held the same weight in society as it does today. Especially if it has no bearing on the plot. Historical accuracy alone isn't strong enough an argument for me to swallow it.
The H/h growing out of the behavior is a different story though.
