I think darcy's buying power estimated at 1 to 6 million is when compared to today's buying power, in his day, the text only mentions 10,000 a year, so I wouldn't regard him as a close comparison to a man worth 6.8 billion today. rushworth and darcy worth 12,000 and 10,000 a year respectively, are the richest characters in the novels, and even if darcy is slightly less than rushworth, he would be more eligible, considering rushworth's stupidity. someone has compared darcy with a worth of about 100 million tuday, and mr bennet with a few millions, and I agree with that comparison.
