As she's ill, I asked mum what she wanted me to write next to amuse her with. Now it so happened that I had mooted a series of 6 romances that were interrelated, and she demanded I start work on them. They are as follows.
A wealthy young woman who expects to die young decides to endow a school for impoverished and orphaned gentlewomen of tender years, and hopes to set it up before she dies. Imagine her shock - and hope- when the doctor she has engaged for the welfare of the girls tells her that she is not likely to die after all and there's nothing wrong with her that a more robust diet and healthy exercise won't cure. I'm going to bite the bullet and make the doctor, who is of course the love interest, both Scots and red haired. [Elinor's Endowment]
The subsequent books will follow the fortunes of a young preceptoress engaged at the school who becomes close to a pupil whose errant father turns up having tracked her down [Ophelia's Opportunity]; A young lady claimed from the school by a couple who have their own designs on her future [Abigail's Adventure]; A young lady whose family branch is cast off by the main branch but has extras in her education paid for providing she writes regularlyMarianne's Misanthrope]; a young emigrée with sinister family connections [Francine's Fear]; and the still young governess of the original lady who took on the task of head preceptoress [Libby's Luck].
And there may be mileage in some of the other girls for more too... so it might end up being more than 6...
Anyway, I'm interested in what anyone thinks...
I have to be in a certain mood to work on Castle Ravencrag but I promise you, I haven't forgotten it...
