Thank you, Suzanne, you are such an excellent writer that's lovely to have your support for my controversial story. I'm not offended by Adelaide or Jim or others who dislike it, I was quite aware when I wrote it that such an alternate pairing would be controversial.
But although it's non-canon, I did get my inspiration for it from canon Persuasion itself. As for creating an OC, I'm afraid that so far I'm not good at that, and when I've tried to make an OC a major character, I'm inclined to get stuck with the development and I find that it becomes flat and dull. Another controversial non-canon pairing which is actually a favourite of mine is the Edmund-reformed Mary followed by Fanny-reformed Henry pairing, it is certainly not an original idea since it is the alternate ending outlined in canon MP itself -- with earlier hints in the text that Mary might come to adopt the "opinions of the man she loved and respected as her own". And Henry wishing he was more like William Price rather than himself.
