Since you are so fond of doing non-canon pairings, you may have raised this subject before. Or was it some other writer/reader?
I read FF strictly for pleasure. I prefer the ending to be unpredictably predictable. Don't like to be too riled or worked up while I am at it. I wish to stay within my comfort zone. So I never ever read stories where D and/or E do not end up together.
If I want something different, I read something else, not PPFF. I can't help wonder why writers who like non D/E pairings do not create their own stories.
