Regency summer and winter

Just wonder how was the difference between getting up and going to sleep in summer and winter times? I somehow doubt they did get up and lay down the same, right? Did they stay in bed in the darker time till at least 8, but maybe in summer were already up at 6 to have time for more things before breakfast? Did they go to bed very early in winter... I mean here it is dark around 4 pm in winter. What did they do when it was dark so very early? Reading and such? I guess for most handwork things like sewing and embroidering it was too dark just with candles and fire, no? And the gentlemen? Billiards... card or board games? What else?
